We made it to the "Cowboy State"!

No other place in the world can offer the geography that  Wyoming offers. Grasslands, high plains, deserts and mountains provide the opportunities for a plethora of our activities and hobbies. We made it here as part of a career move and look forward to fishing, hiking, camping, snowmobile riding, rock climbing, rock hounding and exploring. The diversity of wildlife is phenomenal given that the landscape and climate are harsh with a tremendous amount of variation. In the two weeks we have been here we have seen prairie dogs, rabbits, pikas, sheep, pronghorn antelope and mule deer along the mountains and plains. We are certain about seeing eagles, hawks, bighorn sheep, wolves, bison and bears in the near future.

The prairie dog above is a fat little guy we saw during our visit to Devils Tower.

The visit to the tower was to evaluate and work out the logistics for a future climb. We picked up climbing registrations and are now planning on training and selecting a route to the summit!

We are looking forward to exploring Yellowstone National Park, the National Monument (Devils Tower), Shoshone National Forest, Big Horn Mountain Range, the Grand Tetons, Jackson Hole, the North Platte and Sweetwater River Valley and numerous cool water reservoirs.

Given that our entire life has been spent working, we make a conscious effort to use our career opportunities to explore as much of the country and world as possible. We play as hard as we work. Remember the motto by which we live, "Go Big or Stay Home"! I'm pretty sure we have been following this protocol for many years now.

The above picture of my sweetheart, best friend and soulmate was taken on the side of a mountain near Alcova Reservoir, which is about 30 miles west of Casper. We have already been taking advantage of our playground and will make every effort to continue blogging our adventures. Suffice it to say, we had fun!
